The Batallon de San Patricio (St. Patrick's Batallion) was a unit of mostly Catholic Irish immigrants and expatriates who deflected from the U.S. to fight alongside the Mexican army during the Mexican-American War. The "San Patricios", who are revered both in Mexico and Ireland, also included Disenfranchised Americans, escaped slaves, Germans, Canadians, English and many other Europeans.

It is to celebrate this illustrious battalion on St. Patrick's Day that that fought so bravely and ferociously that we're brewing Los Desertores Irish Red Ale tomorrow. A traditional Irish Red Ale that Los San Patricios would have been proud to drink during their R&R.
